“O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures” Psalm 104:24
God is wise, He created creatures in wisdom, and so they illustrate His wisdom and the character of wisdom.
God knows all things and purposes to reveal who He is in creation and Scripture. We can clearly know that He is the creator and give Him glory. An example that I have not shared previously, is that He created recognizable images in butterfly wings. One can see the head of a dog in the Dogface butterfly wings, butterfly wings that look like a leaf, and wings that collectively contain all of the letters of the English alphabet. Who else could do this but God?
Butterflies illustrate wisdom as they appear meek, peaceable, and gentle. These are God’s ways. Let us delight in these illustrated qualities with the next generation. They are the qualities of Jesus who is the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24). They are also the qualities of those who will inherit the earth and delight themselves in the abundance of peace (Psalm 37:11) (e.g., in the New Heavens and Earth).
“Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth.” James 3:13-14
“But the wisdom that comes down from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.” James 3:17
We need to put on “the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” 1 Peter 3:4 “Learn from me [Jesus]; for I am gentle and lowly in heart” Matthew 11:29
“But according to His promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.” 2 Peter 3:13-14
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid…Rise let us go from here.” John 14:27-31
God loves to give wisdom. Pray for wisdom. Seek meekness. Seek to be peaceable, gentle and open to reason in Christ.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” James 1:5
