My eyes are ever toward the Lord, for he will pluck my feet out of the net.
Psalm 25:15
We experience freedom as we keep our eyes toward the Lord Jesus. We are like the butterflies that are free compared to their life as a caterpillar. The beauty of the tiny Reakirt’ Blue butterfly, decorated with hairs and scales that shine bright in the light, is remarkable.
Yet in the fallen world butterflies still have enemies that eat them. God gave them protections like camouflage patterns on the backside of their wings. They also have behavior instincts to fly to a branch or into the meadow grass. They are alert, relying on God-given instincts to look out for danger. Even the small moth in the above video kept the butterfly from going to a nearby flower. In this sense it was keeping its eyes on the Creator.
Next, a spider appeared. The butterfly did delay in flying away, keeping its eyes on the ways established for it by God.

- “Take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ’ (2 Corinthians 10:5)
