Maybe you hope for new things in 2019. Here is a recent experience of how God can make all things new.
The most interesting sight on Friday was a frontage road laid down over the humps in the earth like a ski jump.
I wondered if this time was a break in the day to day speech through creation. An answer came the next day. God made all things new overnight! Nathanael and I traveled early in the morning to a Bible study about 45 minutes (Falcon, Colorado). We were surprised to reach a landscape completely changed by God’s hand with frost, fog, and fluffy toughs of snowflakes. Coated Cottonwood trees were glowing in the dim morning light.
Dead wildflower-stems were enlarged with white sparkling fluff. Then the wonderland was lit up by beams of sunlight through the mist.
The predominate brown colors of the day before were replaced by pure white.
The 14,000 foot Pike’s Peak in the background reminded us that the all-powerful God caused this to happen.
“God thunders wondrously with his voice; he does great things that we cannot comprehend. For to the snow he says, ‘Fall on the earth’ … Whether for correction or for his land or for love, he causes it to happen.” Job 37:5-6a,13.
The new scenes pointed to God’s grace through His Son, Jesus, who enables us to conquer sin and death and inherit life as God’s children. The gift of Jesus makes all things new. Through Him we can oppose evil and advance His kingdom on earth as in heaven. Thirst for Him in the New Year.
“And he who was seated on the throne said, Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and she will be my son.” Revelation 21:5-7
Wow! beautiful. I like Job 37:13 because we have a loving sovereign God who does all things perfectly. Incidentally, the pic of the hilly road reminded me of some roads around here that when I was younger and with my parents, we would encourage dad to hit those a little faster for the light headed feeling one gets on a roller coaster, and we didn’t even have to pay anything! I’ve often said that being one of God’s children is like a roller coaster ride in that sometimes it is scary and you don’t know what’s around the corner, sometimes it’s exhilarating, and all by faith that God will keep you “on track”
Robert, Thank you for sharing your experience. Nice to ride down the bumpy roads with a loving God. If He is for us, who can be against us? Blessings, Neal
Your photos are beautiful. My favorite is the Pike’s Peak with the snowy trees in foreground. Great perspective!
Glad you enjoyed to photos. It was an amazing morning where the snow flakes did not melt (minus 9 F). Blessings, Neal
