The LORD is great and worthy of worship. We need to keep perspective because the tendency of the flesh is to boast in man/self.
“For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than man.” 1 Corthinthians 1:25
It seems to me that God chose the weak and seemly insignificant things such as butterflies to shame the wise, who say there is no God.
“But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong” 1 Corinthians 1:27
Consider the little Boisduval’s Blue butterfly featured in this post. It is so beautiful and a delight to watch as it flies perfectly around to gather nectar and distribute wildflower pollen. The details that make this possible are still baffling to the best human minds.
Imagine how small the proboscis is that the butterfly uses to transfer nectar from flowers. How does such a tiny tube keep open and functional, while also being able to coil up and extend? Scientists appreciate that such a device can have applications for humans use, but there is still mystery about its creation and form.
Consider the detail of the wings. Tiny muscles and joints control their movement. Scales cover them having the capability to produce iridescent color. Hairs covering the body and along the wing surfaces and edges are connected to the nervous system controlling numerous essential functions.
God provides a variety of features that protect the larva and butterflies from predators. A surprising protection is provided by a mutual relationship with ants. The Boisduval Blue butterfly caterpillar, like some other larva of small butterflies, provides a sugary substance high in amino acids that ants love. The ants protect the caterpillar from predators.
The purpose of creation is to give glory to God. As you may observe in some of the links, man in his sinful nature does not acknowledge Him. I pray that the Holy Spirit will open the eyes of more scientists to know the truth of His word about God and His Son and be humble.
“He is the source of our life in Christ Jesus, whom God made our wisdom and our righteousness and sanctification and redemption. Therefore, as it is written, ‘Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” 1 Corthinthians 1:31
